Want A Puppy? Considering An American Bully? Information To Help You Decide

If you want to get a puppy for yourself and your family, there are many breeds to choose from. If you have done a lot of research and have decided on an American Bully, you need to ensure this is the right dog for you. Keep reading to learn information about this breed so you can make the right choice.

Their Appearance

American bullies have short stiff and close fur that looks glossy if your dog is clean. You will find these dogs in a variety of colors from tan to dark brown. When looking at the American Bully, it looks much like a Pit Bull. This is because this breed does come from the Pit Bull family.

The ears may be uncropped or cropped. They have a strong and muscular body so this dog can be difficult for young children to handle if walking on a leash. It helps if you have the dog trained because of its strength. This is considered an average-sized dog, and males are generally a little larger than females. Look at the parents if you can as this will give you a good idea of the size your American Bully will get.

Their Temperament

American bullies are happy, confident, and outgoing dogs. They may look big and strong, but they are very loving towards their family and the people they meet. This breed makes a great pet for families as they are very obedient, have a good nature, can be funny at times, and are extremely loyal to their family. If you have small children, an American Bully is patient, and is a good breed to choose for them.

Because of their affection for their family, American Bullies make great guard dogs. They will fight in order to protect their family members. They will alert you with a bark if they sense danger around you, which is an added level of security for you and your family.

Their Care

Make sure your puppy has regular veterinarian visits, especially during their first year or so with you. They will need vaccinations to keep them healthy. The vet can give you tips on feeding your puppy, such as the best type of food, how much to feed, and how often.

You do not have to get this dog groomed as their hair stays short all the time. You should still brush your dog to help remove dander and debris. Use flea preventative medication to keep fleas and ticks off your dog.

Make sure your American Bully gets enough exercise by taking them on long walks each day. You can also let them run in the backyard if you have a large yard and it is fenced.  Socialize your dog at an early age by taking it with you everywhere that you can.
